✦ Why?
Younger generations are facing unprecedented levels of loneliness, with studies showing that 25% of young Spaniards experience this feeling. Unlike previous generations, Gen Z has grown up in a fully digital world where the boundaries between online and offline life are blurred.
While technology enables constant connectivity, it often replaces deep, meaningful interactions, leaving many young people feeling isolated despite being constantly "connected."
This raises an important question: How can we create solutions that help alleviate unwanted loneliness among young people? What can we do to encourage real, fulfilling human connections in a world that is increasingly digital?

Context
✦ What?
The insights
After analyzing loneliness among young people, we’ve identified key criteria that our product must meet:
✢ Attract individuals aged 16 to 29
✢ Align with Gen Z’s values and principles
✢ Ensure accessibility, potentially through a freemium business model
✢ Foster collaborations with schools and businesses
Generation Z is often referred to as the "Mute Generation" because they primarily communicate through mobile messaging rather than voice or face-to-face interactions. This constant reliance on digital conversations has led to a growing disconnect from real-world social interactions.

✦ How?
The solution
The concept of "Unmute" was born out of the need to counteract this digital detachment by encouraging young people to step away from screens and engage more deeply with their surroundings. It aims to create experiences, spaces, or initiatives that inspire meaningful, offline connections—helping them rediscover the power of in-person conversations, shared experiences, and real-world engagement.
